Guided Maine Hunting Trips
Spring and Fall Guided Turkey Hunting
Spring Hunts
Spring turkey hunts are generally undertaken out of Natural or camo ground blinds. Maine Spring Turkey Hunts are for Toms only with a second Tom available with the purchase of a second permit. Your Maine Guide will “Roost” the Toms the night before the hunt. Turkeys are then called into decoys within shooting range of your blind, using various calls to excite your bird. Experience the heart pounding adventure of “calling” your wild Maine Turkey within range.
Fall Turkey Hunts
Fall Turkey Hunts in Maine allow for the taking of either Toms or Hens. Calling birds in is not as effective as it is during spring hunts. The experienced Maine guide who knows where they are typically located; in their feeding grounds or moving between roost and feed, can find birds. One Bird may be taken with a Fall Turkey permit. The Turkeys have fed all summer and large broods can be often be found in reforested areas as well as Maine’s farmlands.
Maine Moose Hunting Adventures
Over the last 30 years, Maine Moose hunting trips have become an exciting Fall adventure for the lucky winners of the Hunt of a Lifetime. New rules and procedures have leveled the playing field for those who have put in for the annual drawing in June. Hire a Guide for your Hunt of a Lifetime. Maine Guides spend hours in the woods and know where your Moose resides as well as their feeding habitats; from the edges of swamps, to reforested timber cuts. Depending on your permit location or WMD (Wildlife Management District), using a Maine Guide reduces the chance of going home empty handed and may decrease the time it takes for you to encounter your prize Maine Moose. Several WMD zones produce a nearly 100% success rate. Moose can be seen in several areas throughout the summer months; however, these animals change their habits quickly, both during the rut and after, as hunting pressure pushes them deeper into their habitat. During the fall “Rut” Bulls can be called in for close shots. At other times, using calls will only drive this great creature deeper into the Maine woods. Maine has several seasons in numerous WMD’s with seasons stretching from September through the month of November. Only licensed permit holders and their licensed sub-permittees may participate in a Maine Moose hunt.
Upland Bird Hunts over Pointing Dogs
Maine has some of the best Upland Bird Hunting in the eastern U.S. for Ruffed Grouse, Partridge as some call them; Woodcock, also known as Timber Doodle, as well as Snipe. Our hundreds of thousands of acres of reforested and well managed forest lands experience changes in the location of ideal bird habitat annually. Discontinued old farmland and varied forestlands hold a fast paced opportunity to bag daily limits over pointing dogs. As the Fall weather cools, nightly flights of migrating woodcock replace the local populations of woodcock on their flights to warmer wintering grounds. Even with the annual cycles of highs and lows, Maine has a generous population of Ruffed Grouse (“Partridge”), Woodcock and Snipe to fill your daily bag limits. Safe, fast shooting and good accurate shotgun skills will improve your odds. The services of an experienced Maine Guide improve your chances of a successful upland bird hunt in productive covers.
